We once added a new weather API to our DataPoint product at times that the Yahoo weather API was having hard times and had outages for longer periods. That made us select the Dark Sky weather API, and we integrated it for real-time weather information and forecasts.
Last week a message was sent out by Dark Sky that they joined Apple. Because of this, the Android app will no longer be available after July 1, 2020. And Apple decided to stop the weather API that we use. They wrote: “Our API service for existing customers are not changing today, but we will no longer accept new sign ups. The API will continue to function through the end of 2021.”
Because of this change, we will continue to have this Dark Sky Weather API in our DataPoint product, but we ask you to change your presentation to use the normal weather API and stop using Dark Sky. In the end, we will of course completely remove the Dark Sky weather provider from our user interface.
