We would like to find out more information about your Enterprise edition for DataPoint.

  • How many users can the Enterprise edition accommodate? (users that are able to create data-driven presentations)

Let me first explain the other editions, other than the DataPoint Enterprise edition. We have 4 different DataPoint editions to serve your needs.

  • DataPoint Standard edition
  • DataPoint Enterprise edition
  • DataPoint Viewer edition (free)
  • DataPoint Runtime edition (included in iPoint Player license)

A DataPoint Standard edition is ideal when you work alone or in a smaller team. It allows you to design data-driven presentations and reports. The Standard edition allows you to:

  1. design data-driven presentations
  2. generate snapshot presentations
  3. display real-time information on a screen
  4. it does not allow you to generate multiple documents or presentations via the Snapshot Save As feature

Most people use the Standard edition. And if you want to show data in real-time on a dedicated screen or monitor, then use the DataPoint Standard edition. When you need digital signage too (scheduling playlists for remote playback), then use our iPoint product and use a DataPoint Standard edition to design the data-driven presentations, and the iPoint player includes already a DataPoint Runtime edition to playback the data-driven presentations.

The Enterprise edition is the key product to work with the free DataPoint Viewer. A license per designer (the person who is setting up the dynamic links and binding the shapes etc) is required.

It can be installed on one computer. You can always move a license from A to B by deactivating the license on A and then activating it on computer B. And there are discounts when buying multiple licenses.

The Enterprise edition allows you to:

  1. design data-driven presentations
  2. generate snapshot presentations
  3. display real-time information on a screen
  4. generate multiple documents or presentations via the Snapshot Save As feature
  5. use command line tool
  6. generate presentations that can be used by the Free DataPoint Viewer edition

The Free viewer edition can be installed an unlimited number of times. Note that a limitation of the viewer is that

  1. You cannot add/change DataPoint linking information. This part is read-only with the Viewer edition. No one can ruin your linking work and data connections.
  2. The data is only refreshed when you open the presentation that was created by the Enterprise edition. No continuous data refreshes like you would see when using this type of software e.g. on a dedicated screen with real-time updates.
